#504 new enhancement

Inconsistencies regarding ropp_build

Description

Helpdesk 351 enquirer (Hui Liu, UCAR) notes that:

dear sirs,

I did the command:
tar -zxvf ropp-9.0.tar.gz

but I did find the directory ropp_build/. any suggestions for this?

thanks.

hui

My reply:

Thank you for your enquiry.

The ropp_builds directory, which contains various tools to help the
user to build ROPP, can be downloaded from the ROPP-9.0 --> CODES
folder (item 99) at

http://www.romsaf.org/ropp/files.php

As far as I can see, it has never been part of the 'entire' tarball
distribution.

All the elements of ropp_build (buildpack, the mini configuration
files, etc) are included in the main tarball, so you should not need
them.

I understand your confusion, however. The Release Notes clearly say
that ropp_build _is_ included in the main tarball, so we will fix
that at the next release. Thank you for bringing it to our attention.

So we need to sort this out.

Hui also suggests

could "romsaf_ropp_user_guide_pp.pdf" be more easy and
meaningful than "romsaf_ropp_ug_pp.pdf"?
just a quick thought.

I replied

Dear Hui,

Thanks, we’ll think about it. I think perhaps
romsaf_ropp_pp_user_guide.pdf would be even better, since
it’s the user guide for the ropp_pp module.

I’ve updated the development ticket to consider the idea.

Regards,
Ian.

Ditto 'ov' --> 'overview' etc.

Milestone: 9.110.0
Type: defectenhancement

The Release Notes have been updated at r5519.

The other changes will have to await consideration at ROPP10.0. Changing milestone (and type) acccordingly.

I've sorted out the first part of this ticket in r5804. So now the ropp_build folder is included in the tarball.

Milestone: 10.0Whenever

I confirm that ropp_build is now part of the tarball. The other aspects of the ticket, concerning renaming, can be relegated to 'whenever' status.

Note: See TracTickets for help on using tickets.
