Action 6 from PT14 is for DMI to assess the methods required to validate 1D-Var data products routinely. A natural extension of such monitoring would be a parallel stream using a pre-release build of ropp_1dvar. This form of routine validation testing would be more representative of operational usage, so is preferable to a one-off report.
As the options have been evaluated, I will close the ticket. A new one will be opened once Action 6 has been closed.

The feasibility of producing 1D-Var validation plots routinely is being examined.
It is possible that this will involve statistics showing how 1D-Var solutions from ropp_1dvar compare to the background profiles and verifying analyses (from ECMWF).
