Latittude - longitude fields in ropp_1dvar in- and output

Reported by: frae Owned by: frcm
Priority: normal Milestone: 1.0
Component: ropp_1dvar Version: 0.9
Keywords: Cc: dave.offiler@…, engeln@…

Description

The latitudes in the ropp_1dvar/data directory are inconsitent, at least for the only corrected refrac file (I assume this also holds for the longitudes):

refrac_20020901000213_chmp_u999_meto.nc: -19.69537

bangle_20020901000213_chmp_u999_meto.nc: 67.0613

ecmwf_20020901000213_chmp_u999_meto.nc: 67.0613

The start_times of refrac and bangle are also different, seems these are not the same underlying occultations.

Also, when running ropp_1dvar_refrac_ec, the output lat and lon entries are set to -99, -999 when using the above refrac and ecmwf file. This seems to be a general problem and also does not work with other files in ropp_1dvar/data.

Resolution: wontfix
Status: newclosed

Data files in the data directory were not version controlled very well; at the present point in time, I have made no attempt to put a set of sample data files together which are ready for wider distribution (the 0.9 release has not been coordinated with me). This will happen sooner or later, but right now consistency should not be expected. From r1004 on, generic quality checks are enabled that would find such a case of inconsistent data files, at least with respect to the longitude and latitude coordinates.

At least with the present version, the lon/lat output for the refractivity 1Dvar seems ok, so the problem has probably been fixed.

For the time being, I'll close the tick as "wontfix".
